Obtain Purposeful and Impactful Employment To Boost Long-term Success...

From The Desk Of A. Scott Roberts

Dear Friend,

Let me ask you a question…

Do you go from one job to the next?

Or maybe you can’t seem to keep a job…

Maybe you just don’t find it enjoyable…

You've heard that obtaining meaningful employment makes you happy…

...and that it also boosts your self-esteem.

But did you know that meaningful and impactful employment keeps people off drugs, off the streets, and out of trouble…

I am here to tell you that it is absolutely true...

The research is clear on this…

But where do you start?

You know there are people that love their jobs…

You know people who are very successful in their careers…

What makes them different from you?

What should you be doing differently?

Is there something you’re missing?

I am here to tell you there is…

And that’s why you are here, right?

Or maybe you are here for someone else, someone that you are trying to help…

Whoever it might be, you’re tired from feeling frustrated, aren’t you?

Is it really too much to ask for?

A career you care about, something you are good at, something that motivates and excites you?

Let me tell you a little secret…

If you want to find a job that motivates and excites you, it doesn’t start at the job board…

It first starts with YOU…

It starts with knowing who you really are, and understanding yourself…

Something that MOST people miss…

Over the last several years, I have helped thousands of people discover their passion, what they are good at, and what environments they thrive in..

And I've got to tell you that when you find the job you love, it changes you…

When you thrive in a career, you thrive in life…

You will reach a point that the money you earn becomes secondary to your happiness and life satisfaction…

Listen. We’ve all heard it before, haven’t we?

If you love what you do, and are good at it, you are happy, content and energized…

And in a moment, I will tell you how this works…

But let me first tell you a personal story…

When I was working for a state agency as a new rehabilitation counselor, I worked with all sorts of clients who had psychological and substance abuse problems…

They went through therapy and attended numerous counseling sessions…

But they all showed little progress…

One day I sat down with an expungement specialist to help one of my clients clean up his criminal background so he could obtain a job…

I told him about my frustrations.

I told him that "some of my clients show little improvement and relapse over and over again.”

What my expungement specialist friend said has forever impacted me...

He responded, “When you help someone find purposeful and impactful employment, you are doing the more good than numerous counseling sessions ever could.”

What I didn't realize is that clinicians, psychologists and legislators know that meaningful and impactful employment is what keeps people out of criminal activity, gangs, homelessness, and keeps them addiction free...

But they don't know how to do it...

You see, when people work it provides structure. It provides responsibility. It gives a sense of worth, meaning and purpose…

Everything that an addicted individual needs!

I was just helping them get a job, instead of a satisfying career that they could really love and where they could find purpose in…

You see, a job is something you do to earn money…

But a satisfying career is something that fulfills your interests, personality and skills…

It is long-term and defines who you are…

It becomes part of your self-identity…

From that time forward I implemented techniques I studied…

I’ve attended and met people from worldwide and national training…

I’ve studied all sorts of different personality, interest, skills, and ability assessments…

And i've become certified in many…

Over the last several years, I have helped many individuals overcome countless barriers because they obtained employment in an area that allows them to flourish…

You may have thought that you’re introverted because being around people drains you…

Maybe you think you're extroverted because people energize you…

Maybe you have a knack for picking up on details… Or maybe you are excellent with tasks that require physical skill…

Or maybe you’re good at persuasion, selling or motivating others…

But unless someone points it out enough…

Or you discover it for yourself through assessments and exercises, you may never know for sure…

Once you discover your strengths, you'll be able to use them to thrive in life!

So, what happened to my clients?

They started finding work enjoyable…

Their quality of life improved...

My mistake previously, was that I was so focused on helping my clients fight their old life, I forgot to help them build a new one…

I soon discovered that successful employment remedied many of the barriers they were experiencing…

The reason is this. Work:

But honestly, the cards are stacked against you…

Many people do not help you find purposeful and impactful employment…

They aren’t skilled enough in assessments, or know how to use one’s interests and personality to find meaningful careers…

They simply just don’t know enough about it…

But they do know it’s true…

When you find a career you love, and have passion about, you overcome barriers and thrive in life...

You’ve probably heard of those studies about rats when put in a cage and given the choice of clean water or drugged water…

9 times out of 10 the rats will choose drugs over the water every time…

It ends up killing them…

But in the 1970s, a psychology professor, Bruce Alexander, noticed something about these experiments…

He noticed these experiments that the Partnership for a Drug Free America advertised consisted of a rat who was all alone…

He thought what would happen if this rat had friends? If his environment changed?

So he built what her termed as “Rat Park”.1

This was a cage he placed other rats in and added colorful balls…

The rats still had the clean water and the drugged water to choose from, but something interesting happened…

They didn’t like the drugged water… It became unnecessary…

And none of the rats from his experiment in the rat park died…

Dr Alexander concluded:

Humans act the same way…

For example, media was reporting that the use of heroin among soldiers in the Vietnam war was as common as chewing gum…2

According the study published in the Archives of General psychiatry, 20% of US soldiers became addicted to heroin there…3

Everyone was worried about all these addicted soldiers coming home when the war ended…

But what happened?

The drug addicted soldiers came home and abruptly stopped, just like that - without rehab!

95% of those addicted just quit when they returned to their families…

You see,

The situational factors affect us greatly…

How we interact with our environment…

And this is what this course is all about...

When change our cage, it changes us…

But it all starts with you… Understanding who you are and what environments you’ll thrive in…
